About CBT

The Alliance for Church-Based Training was founded in 1996 by the Center for Church-Based Training (CCBT; Dallas, Texas, USA), Church-Based Training New Zealand (CCBT-NZ), and Bible Training on Location (BAO; Vienna, Austria). The CBT-Alliance members share the conviction that Jesus Christ has invested the local church with ultimate responsibility for all aspects of the life of the Church. Therefore these partners seek to promote a philosophy of church-based training based on the premise that, generally speaking, the best place to train leaders for local churches is in local churches. Church-based training is thus more than a possible form for training leaders for the Church; rather it is the outworking of a specific theology of the local church.

Although the CBT Alliance strives to work within and through local churches, it recognizes that many fine evangelical programs operate on a different basis. Therefore the CBT Database includes materials and programs which are not explicitly church-based.

The CBT Alliance is nondenominational, evangelical in theology, and its materials are based on the inerrant Word of God, the Bible.

Through partnerships, symposien and also through this database, the CBT-Alliance attempts to network and strengthen other organisations which provide non-formal discipleship and training for church leadership roles.
